Financing Mr. Singh's Gas Station Acquisition

Buying an independent gas station and convenience store is a different kind of deal than most business acquisitions. You're not just financing a business — you're financing real estate, fuel supply agreements, environmental compliance, and equipment, often all in one transaction. That complexity is exactly why a client like Mr. Singh came to us rather than going straight to a local bank.

The situation

Mr. Singh had found Braselton, Georgia — an established station with a working convenience store — and had a purchase agreement in place. What he needed was a lender who understood how to structure financing around fuel branding agreements, underground storage tank liability, and the real estate itself, not just a generic small business loan.

How we structured it

We placed this as an SBA 7(a) loan for approximately $1,150,000, structured to cover:

Along the way, we coordinated environmental assessments related to the underground storage tanks — a step that trips up a lot of gas station deals if it isn't planned for early — and worked directly with the franchisor/fuel supplier on the branding agreement so it lined up with the lender's requirements.

Timeline and outcome

From engagement to closing took approximately 11 weeks. Mr. Singh is now the owner-operator of the location, with financing structured to support both the acquisition and near-term working capital needs.

Financing a gas station or c-store acquisition?

These deals have real, specific complexity — fuel branding, environmental liability, and real estate all have to be underwritten together, not as an afterthought. If you're purchasing a fuel station or convenience store, it's worth talking to a lender who's structured these before.
